As the President of the Sri Lanka College of Transfusion Physicians for the year 2024, I feel blessed have the opportunity to deliver this message to you. This years’ theme ‘Inspiring Hope Innovatively’is centrered around the contemperory topics of Transfusion, Transplantation and Cellular Therapies. Cellular therapy (CT) is the transplantation of human cells to includes stem cell- and non–stem cell-based, unicellular and multicellular therapies. With new technologies, innovative products, and limitless imagination, many different types of cells may be used as part of a therapy or treatment for a variety of diseases and conditions. Blood trnasfuion is one of the basic forms of tissue transplantation. With the expanding horizons in tissue transplantation and cellular therapies, our role as Transfusion Physicians is evolving into the realm of Transplant Physicians.
